the project

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
— James 2:5

A collaborative project of five Chicago urban ministries, Rich in Faith seeks to tell stories of intrepid and enduring Christian faith.

In crisis and celebration, we in Chicago’s urban ministries have been honored to witness God in our neighbors. Through this project, we invite others into that same honor, receiving the witness of those among us who are so very rich in faith.

The storytelling is a journey of four parts:

  1. Story Seminars - Engaging with a curriculum based on Christ’s own parable stories, small groups of participants from partner ministries craft their testimonies of faith.

  2. Story Celebrations - Local neighbors, friends, and family gather to hear and celebrate the storytellers’ testimonies, honoring the faith and power among them.

  3. Mural Storytelling - Arts organizations use the crafted stories to design murals that communicate their themes, engaging local youth and families to create the artwork.

  4. Video Storytelling - Videographers film stories to share throughout Chicagoland via the communication channels of partner urban ministries and suburban churches.
